Training
We offer practical training services to potential, new and experienced bee keepers which can be customized to suit your specific needs- ie. artificial swarms, queen rearing, colony uniting, colony splitting. Our practical training is provided usually within our own apiaries, and you will be working alongside us in a very hands on way. Normally we work on the basis of one to one, or one to two. During the bee season we guarantee that you will experience a wide range of bee keeping events and situations that would be hard to achieve elsewhere. Our large number of hives ensures that there is always something different that you will observe. Typically training is offered in blocks of 10 hours- 5 x two hours slots.
Bee Colony and Nuc Sales
We offer purchasers of nucs and full colonies an option to view the bees prior to purchase. In most cases we will aim to transfer the bees into the bee keepers own equipment and let the bees become accustomed to their new environment. When we sell nucs we offer the service of loaning a poly nuc hive to the purchaser against a refundable deposit when the nuc is returned.
Bee supply policy
We have a strict policy on bee sales. Under no circumstances will we sell our bees to novice beekeepers without any theory or practical training. We can provide practical training so that you can have the best start to your beekeeping. We do not recommend that new beekeepers take on overwintered nucs or colonies as there is a strong possibility of swarming early in the season.
Bee Hives
We can also advise on hive choice and assembly, both in wood and polystyrene. We stock a range of hives and hive parts and consumables which we can offer to perspective beekeepers. As we are highly experienced in hive assembly we can also advise on how to assemble your hive and options for painting. We paint all of our own hives which greatly extends their working life.
Bee Experience Days.
For beekeeping experience events we work at a maximum of one to three and the duration of these events is up to 3 hours. All protective equipment is provided and there is a briefing on beekeeping and safety prior to entering the apiaries. The minimum age for bee experience events is sixteen years of age for Health and Safety reasons.
